This course was developed in conjunction with Paul Marsh 4×4 and Essence of Overlanding in order to help overlanders learn about their 4×4 whilst being immersed in nature and equipping themselves with other skills in order to better optimise their expedition experience.

The Gateway to Overlanding Course is a hosted 2 night trip in a wilderness area just outside of Cape Town. During your time you will learn about, amongst other things:

– the set up and equipment of your car
– your daily car checks
– how to go about food, cooking and camp life
– animal tracking, fauna and flora
– day-to-day living hacks
– safety and first aid
– photography
– stargazing
– overlanding in Africa includings border crossing, culture, currencies, etiquette, precautions and more

Rewilding Course *exclusive to Routes Rediscovered*

A multi-day wilderness immersion teaching you how to connect back to yourself through nature. 

Awaken your senses, tune back into your primal self, learn through and from nature, disconnect from city life and rejuvenate your mind and body back to nature’s circadian rhythm and way. On this course we will explore the 5 senses, use mediation and movement as a form of connection and learn forgotten techniques of survival in order to create a platform for you to come out refreshed, grounded and with a sense of purpose to self once more!

5 Day Safari Guide Crash Course

For a crash course in all things ecology, geology, animal and bird tracks and tracking this is the course for you. Whether you are wishing to equip yourself with more information in preparation for your first safari or expedition or perhaps you are a seasoned bush goer looking to expand on your bush knowledge, this course offers something for every participant, teaching you not only how to identify and interpret animal behaviour but also how to also expand your awareness and knowledge for your next safari adventure.

5 Day Art of Wildlife Tracking Course

Master the ancient art of wildlife tracking on this walking focused safari course. This training promotes the ability to really connect to and hone into your senses in order to learn the disciplines associated with track and sign identification and wildlife tracking. After 5 days you will be amazed at how much the ‘bush newspaper’ can tell you!

5 Day Bush Fanatics Course

Be woken by drumbeats at first light and a morning coffee before starting on your daily sunrise walk or safari drive taking in learning subjects such as wildlife photography, animal and bird behaviour and tracking, animal tracking and astronomy. This course aims to give our guests an introduction to the wilderness area they may be exploring and African wildlife you may encounter whilst out on overlanding expeditions and safaris.

7 or 14 Day Bush and Wilderness Training

Looking for a more in-depth nature training course but do not have the time or need to do a full safari guide course? Look no further than our 7 or 14 day Bush and Wilderness Training courses.

With courses currently offered in Botswana and the greater Kruger area, students on this course will learn about elements such as animal behaviour, animal tracks and tracking of wildlife, bush skills, orientation and navigation and so much more.

Perhaps the best part of this training course is that you will be spending your hours in the bush, both driving and walking, acquiring first hand practical skills along the way
